The Availability of the Draft Basic Assessment Report (DBAR) For Comment

Project proposal: The Western Cape Department of Transport & Public Works, Directorate: Works Education Facilities is proposing to construct two schools (a Primary and Secondary School) in Jagtershof on a vacant, undeveloped portion of Farm 235, Stellenbosch RD (Kuils River) on Jagters Road.

Environmental Assessment Practitioner: Braaf Environmental Practitioners

Regulatory requirement: A Basic Assessment process in terms of the 2014 Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) Regulations is being followed for this application. EIA activities – Government Notice (GN) No. R983: Listing Notice (LN) 1:19 is applicable to obtain environmental authorisation.

The Draft Basic Assessment Report (DBAR) will be available for a commenting period of 30 days from 16 March 2017 to 18 April 2017 at the Kuils River Public Library and on the Braaf website (www.braasa.com). This comment period has now been extended to 8 May 2017. Stakeholders are encouraged to comment on the content of the report and to raise issues and concerns that will be addressed in the Final Basic Assessment Report (FBAR).
